The week of 15-19 April 2024 marked the return of the biannual MACH2024 show to the NEC Birmingham UK.
A much-anticipated celebration of Engineering and manufacturing the show brings together the biggest display of machine tool manufacturers, distributors, and accessory suppliers from around the world.
The 2024 show did not disappoint with dedicated halls for Robotics and automation, metalworking, surface finishing, and grinding. Throughout the week there were seminar discussions hosted by business leaders and experts on the future of manufacturing and the latest developments in technology.
One such seminar discussed the future opportunities afforded by the growth of jobs in space. Already funded by the European Space Agency and corporate ventures, there seemed an unstoppable commitment to utilise space and resources on the moon! The exploration of lunar moon ice and its unique environment is sure to push UK manufacturers and material suppliers to be more innovative.
So, despite the current geo-political uncertainty from global conflicts, there was a general optimism that we are over the COVID downturn and heading towards a more technological age led by machine learning, AI, and automation.
