We are often asked where our unusual name comes from!
The business is named after the rarest flower in the world. The Shirui Lily, or Lilium mackliniae, only found in Ukhrul district of Manipur, North East India. Also, the ancestral home of one of our founders.
May 2022 marks the return of the Shirui Lily Festival after a two-year absence. Supported by the State of Manipur Tourist Board, and Chief Minister, the festival will showcase the regions rich cultural heritage.
The festival is celebration of this unique flower, highlighting its need for conservation. Discovered by an English botanist in 1946, the hope is it can be preserved for future generations.
The weeklong Festival celebrations include a Rock Concert, Half Marathon, Beauty Pageant, Downhill Mountain bike race, Flower show, Tug a War, and a State pork eating competition!
